A .22LR (PARKERIFLED) 'THE ROSS' 1882 PATENT LEVER-COCKING SINGLE-BARRELLED HAMMERLESS EJECTOR ROOK RIFLE, serial no. 10927,
circa 1888, 25in. turned octagonal to round nitro barrel (Parkerifled to .22LR from a rook rifle calibre, proofed as '.22L'), block-mounted bead fore-sight, rear open sights with one folding leaf with white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 50 and 100, engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98, NEW BOND ST. LONDON. .22 R.F. PATENT No.1294' on the right, the left with 'WINNERS OF ALL THE 'FIELD' RIFLE TRIALS 1883', H.W. Holland patent lever-cocking action, patent no. 1294 of 17th March 1882, carved teardrop fences, removable striker disc, manual side lever safety with engraved 'SAFE' detail, non-selective ejector mechanism, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 15in. pistolgrip stock with steel pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, weight 5lb. 3oz.
